Showcasing Creativity Throughout the City of Trenton

Art All Day Exhibit and Reception  5pm – 8pm at Artworks’ 19 Everett Alley space.

You’ve experienced the magic of Art All Night, Artworks’ round-the-clock
art extravaganza in June. Now mark November 10th on your calendars, when
Artworks’ latest event aimed at bringing Trenton’s diverse creative
community together — Art All Day — will take place. Art All Day will
showcase creativity within the borders of Trenton, in all its myriad
forms, with artist studios, creative community spaces, non-profits,
businesses and other venues throughout the city opening their doors to
participating attendees all day.

Come see Trenton spaces where art, music, dance, theater, literature,
crafts, and much more is created and presented. Speak with artists and
engaged members of the Trenton community, and witness the exciting
potential our city offers. Then, after a day out, be Artworks’ guest at
our expansive gallery space for a reception and Art All Day exhibition,
featuring work by Art All Day participants.

Workshops:  A series of 4 Saturday workshops will be held at the Trenton City Museum in the Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park for children 8 to 12 years of age from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Origami Architecture February 4, 2010 (Ken Wilkie) – Invented by a Japanese professor architecture these pop up cards use the traditional paper folding of Japan and have the 3D look of an architectural model.  Students will use their names, the name of a favorite team or any other word to make them stand up.

Valentines February 11 (Sue Dumas)

Impressionistic Paintings February 18, 2012 (Jessica Sassaman) – Students learn about the Impressionists and then create a watercolor landscape painting using depth and perspective.

Collage bookmarks February 25, 2012 (Diane Frascella-Bonanno) – Students will repurpose images and text from old books and magazines to make collage bookmarkers.

10×10 Exhibit

Artworks announces the first Red Dot Fundraiser Reception featuring the 10 x 10 Art Exhibit
December 3, 2011
4 – 7pm reception

Red Dot + Artwork = Support. The Red Dot shows for support of Community Arts in Trenton. Come to the Artworks Red Dot Fundraiser and put your red dot on the art that you love.

Over 100 Trenton area artists created artworks on 10″ x 10″ canvas. The work is dynamic, diverse and all created specially for Artworks. Professional, teacher and student artists created works in oil, acrylic, mixed media, photography, pastel, watercolor and more. Come and be surprised.

Each artwork sells for $100 with the funds raised going to support Artworks Exhibitions. 2012 will bring 10 unique art shows to NJ’s capital city and the Mercer County Arts community.

This year’s exhibit schedule will feature the annual Trenton School Exhibition, an exhibit by the NJ Paper Guild and a one of a kind Rock-n-Roll Artposter show.

Come and support your local community arts center and get some wonderful artworks by local artists.

It’s time to call in the creative forces of various ghoulish minds out there to compete in the Artworks Monsters Ball Halloween Art Exhibit.

We’re looking for everything from the spooky to the spoofy, scary or hairy, funny or ghastly! Artworks can be humorous or ‘dead’ serious, so long as they maintain the Halloween/Horror theme. Get WEIRD! Get CREATIVE!    Open to all artists at least 18 years old

First Place Winner -$50 cash, a free class or workshop at Artworks and a Tier 1 Premium Ticket to this year’s Monsters Ball.

Second Place Winner – 
A free class or workshop at Artworks and a Tier 2 ticket to this year’s Monsters Ball.

Third Place Winner – A Tier 2 ticket to this year’s Monsters Ball.

Media

• All forms of art & craft will be considered.
• All 2-D ART must be suitably wired for hanging, no sawtooth hangers or clips.  Up to three entries allowed per artist.
• Unframed works must be properly gallery wrapped with no rough canvas or staples showing.
• 3-D ART must be fully assembled and not to exceed more than 18×24 with base.
• PHOTOGRAPHY – Prints must be framed.

All work must be properly/protected and labeled with artists name /address /phone number /email/ title, price and media info of their entry.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

• Download the application form (click here)
  
• Fill out all designated fields. Scan form or put all information into the text body of an email.
• Attach images to the email with the application form.
• Send email with images attachment, with HALLOWEEN ART CONTEST (ALL CAPS)
 in the subject line to info@artworkstrenton.org.

Image files should be JPG files, no more than 10”” in height or width, and no less than 72 dpi and no more than 300 dpi.

DEADLINE: Entries MUST be received by Thursday, October 13th, 2011… after that the coffin lid is sealed! 



Notification: Entries will be notified by email by Tuesday, October 20^th.

Accepted Entries must be dropped off by Tuesday, October 25^th, Noon – 8pm

Constructed Poetry: An Interactive Art Exhibit

Come and play with a life size magnetic poetry game. Artworks invites you to exhibit your wordplay expertise, find your inner poet, or simply enjoy the verse of others. The gallery walls will be the place to wax poetic in your wordly wonderings. Come and enjoy a truly unique evening at Artworks!

The Anthropological Wordsmith Picture Show
Developed by artist and photographer Andrew Wilkinson,  in collaboration with portrait photographer Benoit Cortet, The Anthropological Wordsmith Picture Show provided everyone with the opportunity to be a part of the project. Participants were asked to write one word on a piece of paper and then be photographed with their word in front of a brick wall. The results of this project in video and installation will be exhibited as part of the Constructed Poetry show.

Also featuring local poets reading their work.

While working from a still life setup, complete a painting in 3 hours .
- First class will consist of demo and discussion of material needed.

Art Law 101

2 Day Workshop

Instructor: Stephen Slusher

Art and law often intersect.  When can you incorporate an image by someone else into your work?  What can (and should) you do if someone copies your work?  What’s a derivative work?  What rights do you have in an image once you’ve sold the actual piece of art?  Should you think about copyright, trademark or patents?  What’s the difference?  Artlaw 101 will address these and other issues, with the objectives of helping artists avoid legal conflicts and maximize economic potential.

Pastels are a unique painting medium in that the colors are mixed on the paper by overlaying or blending, rather than on a palette. Here you’ll find helpful tips, essential techniques, and step-by-step demonstrations on pastel painting. You will learn about the manufacturing, history, health and safety hazards of pastels and many more useful tips that will help you create beautiful pastels drawing and painting.

Papermaking Sampler

1 day workshop

Instructor: Winnie Radolan

Try your hand at papermaking as an art form! Splash about in beautifully colored vats of cotton/abaca pulp. Create unique marks through techniques of layering, stenciling and pulp painting. Resulting papers are wonderful for printmaking, collage, calligraphy, cards and journals, or as stand-alone “paintings in pulp!” No experience necessary, just a spirit of adventure!

Entering the Event


Online ticket buyers may simply present their ID’s to enter the event.  A volunteer will check you in against our list of those who purchased tickets online.

Artworks is a 501c3 non-profit organization and as such your ticket purchase to our Halloween Fundraiser may be tax deductible.  The Internal Revenue Service has indicated that the amount of a charitable contribution is limited to the excess of the amount of cash contributed by the donor, over the value of any goods or services received by the donor in connection with the contribution.  Please note the following ticket levels and their respective values.
